A grim class struggle is underway in the saliva-saturated Sputum world. The ruling Antiques depend on the saliva of the subjugated Bakelites to survive on a buzzing fungus. With lurid milking machines and an addictive powder, their Famly enforces a status quo. Not until the Bakelite rebellion led by Jimin Blyth gets help from the aristocratic Antique scientist Kalta Crux does the story take a new turn.
