“I helped to found Extinction Rebellion because only non-violent civil disobedience will stop the destruction of our natural world.”
Extinction Rebellion Netherlands and Kriterion are organising a talk by Roger Hallam, environmental activist and co-founder of Extinction Rebellion.
The talk by Roger will be through the lens of civil disobedience and what to do when governments are failing to respond to current crises. We will hear more about International Rebellion Week and how to join in the action.
This evening we will learn about the climate and ecological crisis we face, the reasons why non-violent civil disobedience is needed, and what Extinction Rebellion is doing about it.
Extinction Rebellion is a non-violent socio-political international movement. The aim of the organization is to have governments declare a climate emergency, reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2025, and create a “Citizens’ Assembly” for climate and ecological justice. After the presentation there will be a Q&A, room for discussion and of course after-talks in Kriterion’s café area.
