For a series of three Unfair x Kriterion screenings, we invited Unfair artists to screen a film that is somehow connected to their creative process and the themes they address in their work. There will be an introduction by the artists in which they will elaborate on their choice of film.
In the first instalment of this series, visual artist Kim David Bots chose to screen the 2013 Russian film Hard To Be A God: Aleksei German’s last film, based on the novel of the same name by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, in which a group of 30 scientists travel from Earth to a nearly-identical alien planet that is culturally and technologically centuries behind.
